Key gamma exposure terms

A quick guide to reading the profile and headline levels.

Positive gamma
Net dealer gamma is positive. Hedging may dampen price swings as dealers potentially sell strength and buy weakness.
Negative gamma
Net dealer gamma is negative. Hedging may amplify price moves as dealers potentially buy strength and sell weakness.
Net GEX
Call GEX plus put GEX at a strike or across the selected expiry. Its sign indicates the estimated gamma regime.
Absolute GEX
Total call and put gamma magnitude without offsetting their signs. It highlights where gamma is concentrated.
Gamma flip
Estimated spot level where aggregate GEX changes sign, potentially shifting between dampening and amplifying regimes.
Call wall
Strike at or above spot with the largest call GEX. It marks a major call-gamma concentration, not guaranteed resistance.
Put wall
Strike at or below spot with the largest put GEX magnitude. It marks a major put-gamma concentration, not guaranteed support.

Methodology and limitation

GEX = gamma × open interest units × spot² × 1%, shown in ₹ crore. Calls are assigned positive exposure and puts negative exposure. This dealer-sign convention is an assumption because NSE does not publish dealer-side positioning. Positive GEX describes potentially stabilizing hedging; negative GEX describes potentially amplifying hedging—it is not a directional forecast.
